Twilight gives you the flexibility of working on your model while you render in any of several biased and unbiased methods. It allows you to use an unlimited number of processors for maximum speed. Twilight integrates directly into Sketchup with views, layers, materials, lighting tools and more.
Twilight supports physically accurate materials like fuzzy reflection and subsurface scattering, specialized render methods like Alpha Mask, and a wide range of fine tuned render presets. Twilight also supports animation with almost no setup time, including third-party plugins like Proper Animation and SketchyPhysics!

I see it's based on Kerkythea Echo 2008 (which I am already using with SketchUp). What does it add?

It's true that Twilight Render is built on the same core as the Kerkythea application, that core being the Kerkythea Echo 2008 render engine. However, the applications are quite different.

Twilight is incorporated directly into SketchUp, and is interactive with SketchUp and your scene. Twilight doesn't require exporting of data to a file, then importing into another application; it processes the data right in SU. In addition, materials are done much different. Twilight uses a 'types and templates' system that covers 99% of the materials you'll need, allowing for very quick setup and the flexibility to make the changes you want. There are easy-to-use lighting and environment tools, very easy animation rendering, and a lot more.
