mib_raymarcher is an old shader for creating volumetric lighting, specifically sunbeams or light rays which are occluded by objects.
I have never used it or needed to. parti_volume and parti_volume_photon replaced the mib_raymarcher, as far as I know. "Participating Volume" is the new shader used for volumetrics. It's a bit tricky as well. Nothing like what most apps have for volumetric lighting, but it does work.
