View Full Version : Need feed back on my digital painting
LaBrujaAna 08-23-2009, 03:04 PM Hey guys
I'm currently looking for feedback on my digital painting. In the past few years I've been trying to get in as a concept artist, and the last few times I've talked to employers they tell me I can draw really well but my colors pallet need work, my stuff looks flat. So I just can't figure it out.
I'm new on CG so just in case the post did not work I'll post the link, I hope this is ok.

Awesome concept. It's really neat.
You do need to push your values. It seems like you rely a lot on your hard black edges. Try not to use black at all. Rarely is there black in real life, so you shouldn't use black at all in your paintings (for the most part). And if you are going to have lines, make sure they're clean. Putting pen pressure sensativity on in Photoshop is a great thing. Shape and opacity dynamics are allow you to have the lines, but not make them so harsh. That's what I'm getting. Also, make sure you have one light source. It's hard with water since when light hits water it scatters, but try to show that. Light is coming from above. So main things to work on: the harshness of your lines, your value (that means pushing your lights and darks), and also on your lighting. Also, don't be afraid to take some extra time to blend your colors. That goes along with the harsh lines. Don't be afraid to look at references. Look at things underwater and use those to help you, especially with lighting and maybe color. Just some pointers. :) Good luck to you!
