View Full Version : Post glow without geomtery

i read a maya tutorial for creating flame (single candle flame) effects, they specified that you setup up with diffuse, transparency, self-illum as usual, then apply a glow filter to it, BUT then you hide the original geomtery and are left with just the glow that is generated... it sounded like a good idea and the results are nice, but when i've tried it the whole thing dissappears obviously... any ideas guys ?...if need be i can hunt down and image from the tutorial, thanks

It should work if you don't hide the original geometry but make it completly transparent, this should also make the geometry invisible in the render but still generates the glow.
