hi guys!

looks like i need your help  i'm not new to max, but new to texture baking.

i'm using 3dsmax design 2010 & mentalray.

my highres-model is just a test with some heavy deformations (done in mudbox). the baked result looks like sh**. i've spent days reading through tutorials, but it didn't help me.

there must be something that i'm doing completely wrong. for now i don't care about diffuse maps, etc. i'm just interested in doing some highres detail work on the model (normal/height maps).

when i check the unwrap, no errors show up. the height-map looks totally crappy (shouldn't it be a smooth grayscale image?). maybe there's something wrong with the min./max. height? (i've tried different settings, without effekt).

and how does the whole story work together with skin-material? - it was mostly suggested to use arch/design-material to better control the displacement.

if somebody could help me with this, i would be very happy.
