Hello,
I am a Technical Artist from a 3dsmax background. I need to get more information on map name and path resolution in Maya. So far it seems like Maya is only handling explicit map names. Does the Maya Project specification provide any facility for searching for textures maps when they cannot be found in their specified path, or are they just broken at that point?
I need a method for exposing a library of standard map paths that are shared across all assets in a project. The Project system appears to be the correct mechanism, and I can see the mel command for specifying paths, but if I add paths to the textures section of the project, it does not seem to effect name resolution. (ie. if a texture in a material move from the path used when assigned to another path, Maya cant find it...)
Anyone have any info that will help?
Raymond
