We have a scene that everything has vertex lighting on it and we want to change everything to another type, like lambert or phong.
Does anybody know of a real quick way to change the type of material in a scene in one easy go. So we don't have to open all of the 1600 materials and change them individually. :annoyed:

If you material is the same on every object,
-select all the objects,
-do Matter > Mat Oper > Optimize Selected
-this will create only one instance of the material for each object.
-then select this material in the Schematic View and you can change it.

If you have several material, you might use the Optimize All command. However, I strongly recommend that you save your scene first, because this is not a reliable function: keyframed materials will be treated as one, and there might be some other issues.

Of course you can do this manually with the Associate command (still in Mat Oper).

Perhaps you could use the Spreadsheet, but since I never used it myself I can't guide you, except to point you to this site:

and more precisely:

Hope this helps
