First of all, I would like to introduce myself to the community. My name is Luis Riera, Im from Peru and I am 33 years old.

Hi, in order to better understand the PPG I have a couple of questions :

1. Can I reset the PPG to the default values once I start changing values?
2. If im doing multiple operations like loft on several curves on different parts of a model for example, can I set fixed values to avoid changing the same values everytime in order to speed up my work?

Thanks a lot.

Hi Luis,

Welcome. If you're new to Softimage, have a look at XSIBase.com and si-community.com as well.;)

To answer your questions;

1. Use the 'turn around' arrow on top of the PPG. This will reset to the default values.
2. I'm not sure what you mean, but you can't set your own default values for a PPG, like in Maya. You can hack the spdl's to set different values when starting off with a new object. But that might screw up things somewhere else in Softimage.
You could do all the lofts first, select them all and change all similar settings at one. The PPG will show 'multi' at the top when you select more than one object.

Hope this helps,

rob

Just to add, the button at the top of property editors reverts to the settings from when you opened it, which are not necessarily the defaults if you've already made changes.

And now for a little-known trick: After you do the first loft, set the scope of an explorer to Application. You'll see a Scene Defaults node with an Operators category that contains a Loft. Open it and set your values there. Next time you apply a Loft, it will use those values. Unfortunately, this does not persist after saving and reloading so it's of limited use but might be handy in some circumstances.

On the top of every PPG there is a folder icon in the upper right corner. It allows you to save and load your preferred PPG settings for re-use.

Thanks for all the answers! .... as a side question.... is it wrong to be in love with this software? I dont know why but Softimage makes me want to do 3d all day.

Hi Grahame,

That's a neat trick!! So many years working with Soft and didn't know that.

Thanks,

rob
