Texporter with UVW Unwrap seems to work for me. Check google for Texporter 3.

Max has a great uvunwrap modifier IMHO. I used to hate it but once you figure out how to use it it will make a lot more sense. There is a great tutorial that comes with max detailing how to map a little plane similar to the one used in Stuart Little; that may help you out a little. :)

Yeah, UVW Unwrap is powerful. The included tutorials don't do it justice though. Once you've finished them, Waylon Brinck covers a few more things.

Chuggnut's free Unwrap Tools are really helpful, I use them all the time. Script creates a side bar in UVW Unwrap with a slew of great tools.

Texture Layers is a very cool UV plugin, with FFD and spline UVW gizmos. Not free, but well worth it.

UVPaint is a freebie that has an interesting method.

check out a plugin called RELAX UVS, it works really good
instead of pulling uv points you hit this relax uvs and it spreads them out so you could work with them easier.

Max6 UVW Unwrap has a built in relax function. Looks pretty effective. Should be out in Oct.

Has anyone compared Chuggnut's Relax with Martin Coven's Relax?

Seems like Chuggnut's has one extra tool "Match Area" but I don't really use Relax, so I couldn't say which is better.

Max6 UVW Unwrap has a built in relax function.

This function is already in max5 - there merely isn't a button in the UI for it. In fact, it's the very function that Chuggnut has activated in his script...so... no need to wait for max6.

Cool. I'll try his script. Maybe they made some enhancements to it?

I'm just curious if anyone's tried the two I mentioned, and could offer some insight. Apparently Maya has a very nice Relax, much more usable than the one(s) in max. The biggest beef I have with Relax so far is that it isn't interactive... push a button, undo, tweak spinners, push button, undo, tweak spinners, etc. I wish it was more like Chamfer, an interactive slider.
