I've downloaded a caustics tut and after playing around with it a bit adding a little explosion anim just to see how the caustics would be rendered through, the problem is that when I try to render it just goes through the first frame and doesn't even save that one either :hmm:
In the reder settings -> save I've got save image checked and a correct path..... but whatever I try I don't get my anim... any idea??

1) Check to see that you're rendering output includes ALL of your frames. Chances are that you could just be rendering out 0 to 0 only. That could be why you're just getting the first frame.

2) Make sure that your parameters are all keyed in properly

Output is all frames, and the animation works coz I did a "Make Preview..." at editor settings and I did see the animation.... it just doesn't render past the first frame, and also I don't undestand why it doesn't even save it

what codec and format are you using, try a different one. Some codecs don't support certain resolutions (because they were designed badly)

actually I tried to render as a quicktime movie and a series of tiffs but it didn't work.... I'm sure it must be some stupid little thing... but it's driving me nuts...

anyway here is the file if anybody wants to try...

Not to offend, but are you 100% sure that you're rendering it to the viewer instead of the editor? It renders in Quicktime just fine for me. Aside from changing my output path, I left your setting alone.

No offense taken, but I'm rendering to the viewer ("Render To Picture Viewer" menu) and I get the nice window with the progress bar at the bottom, elapsed time, current frame/total frames info but after the first frame it won't proceed, but if you say that it works for you then I'm really puzzled :surprised
I also did a test anim from scratch just to see if cinema did'nt somehow die but it renders correctly....

Ok, now I don't understand anything anymore, I've downloaded the file posted in the above message and tried to render it, just to try, and lo and behold it works while the one I've been using doesn't....:surprised

well anyway it seems that it's rendering now, don't know what happened but I'm happy :buttrock:

thanks guys for your time....
