ive just started to use bodypaint, ive looks on youtube and other places, but am finding it difficult to find any tutorials for beginers. also i have imported a object which already has a texture on it. in the uv window it displays fine, but in the 3d viewport, the texture is very washed out(as in white) does anone know why this is.

Its okay i figured it out. i had to go into the material and turn off the luminance channel

If you haven't actually made your purchase yet I'd consider looking at 3D Coat. It's much easier to use and has more features, plus plenty of tutorials.

Except the developer of the software has some unusual licensing restrictions regarding content.

I know I'd never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever buy that software myself.

How so? Could you elaborate? Talk about cutting off your nose............

Hmmm, oddly enough, I can't seem to find reference to it on their site anywhere. Perhaps the developer realised he was potentially alienating customers. I'd rather not mention what it was here on the forum, you can PM me for more info if you want.

hi, for the washedout textures in viewport...this is cause the editor preview size. its very small by default to save gpu ram. u can set it up to i think 4000px. double click on your material and set the size in viewport tab.

Yes, the bit you're thinking of has been removed now. My understanding of the current EULA is that it's just saying 'don't make anything that breaks the law in your own country'.

For better or worse there is still a section on the website stating the developer's opinion and requesting that people abide by that.

I avoid bringing that topic up as it only causes arguments and since it doesn't even exist any more it's a non-issue. Best bet is to just enjoy a great program.

Leigh, aren't you the one who personally asked me not to bring up the 3DC EULA?

Did you see me saying what it actually was? Nope.

True, I just find it's best not to bring it up at all, it's just asking for trouble.
