An NOW for AUGUST.........

VFXTalk.com is holding their August VFXChallenge this month...

Fundamentals:

VFX003 - Title Design "The Hobbit"
Submissions Start: August 1st 2003
Submissions End: August 31st 2003
Voting: September 1-6 2003
Winner Announced: September 7th

The Challenge:
Pretend, just for a heart warming moment, that New Line and WETA are in the process of making 'The Hobbit' and they have asked you to submit/propose an opening title sequence. You are given free reign. You know there are at least 12 other studios after this contract, needless to say, its VERY important for you to secure this job, so you know it has to be something special!

The Challenge is to create the best opening title sequence for this mythical movie (keep run lengths to a MAX of 20 seconds please). Everyone should be well versed with the content/subject material, and I'm sure there will be lots of excitement for this challenge!! The cast is not overly important for the sequence, so it is up to you to block in/use casting titles if you choose to do so. Casting titles are not mandatory, and may or may not be needed (its your call).

The prize for this month:
Winner: Gets a 6 month subscription to Digital Media World magazine.(http://www.dmw.com.au) and valuable points toward the BIG PRIZE!
Please check out the AEAF festival details too!! DMW have already secured speakers for Finding Nemo, Charlies Angels : Full Throttle & Noah & Saskia

The VFXChallange is a collection of 12 monthly challenges, that culminate in a chance to win a full copy of eyeon Software's compositing application Digital Fusion 4! The third VFXChallange, VFX003, will run between August 1st, 2003 and the final submission date of August 31st, 2003. The VFX003 prize is a 6 month subscription to Digital Media World Magazine ! Full VFXChallenge details can be found at: http://www.vfxtalk.com/challenge.php

We are trying to encourage an environment for team learning! The more we help each other, the further we can push each other, and the better our VFX skills will become!

bye
