A chacter I did today. ;)
Not high poly or tricky on the modeling side... but I like how it turned out.
If I had this toy as a kid... I definatly would have chewed him up. His "Hands" look especially tasty to me!

i love the lighting and the overall look of the render. can you explain how you got that look? like, all the lighting settings, radiosity settings, etc.

Yup I used an HDRI image for lighting.
I modeled / rendered this guy on my laptop so I didn't have the quality settings *really* high.
Probably what some of you like about the lighting is how the reflections / specularity are working out. Well... actually there is no specularity as that is just a 3D way of "faking" reflections. In the real world... there is no such thing as specularity on objects... all highlights are just however the surface reflects the lighting. That said... I have an angle of incidece (sic? it's early for me today) on the reflection channel on all the surfaces here.

No post processing on any of the images here.

Here is another... (Zoom factor is kinda extreme un-necessarily so it's causing some wierd 3D distortions on proportions)

Does anyone here who has done Character rigging / animation know if the geometry in the shoulder area / elbow is enough for it to deform properly? -- I haven't rigged much so far so I'm curious. It almost seems like I need *more* geometry. Here is a wire.
