View Full Version : Shape Instance changing event to event, wierd.

Notice when they hit a deflector (brush) and go to the next event, the shape changes. All the trash is in a group.

Move your Shape Instance operator into the first event instead of the global event. The Shape is hierarchical and will remain the same throughout the flow until it is changed by another Shape operator. I am guessing that since it is in the global event the particle ID and referencing to the particle group shape may be getting mixed up somehow.

thanks for the reply, I could have sworn I started with it under my birth and it didn't work, but now it does, the shapes don't change. But now I have a new issue, my instanced geometry doesn't have its materials when I put Shape Instance in that event. When I put the event in the global, the materials work. any ideas?

Same setup as last time, but with Shape Instance under Birth

Edit: The materials work in the event containing Shape Instance, then loses them on the next event.

My exact problem..... the thread died like a year ago.

Edit 3, solution: Oleg was kind enough to email me back, Box2 and 3 have features for passing material ID's to following events.

And they work extremely well too, my lack of a prompt reply was given to the fact that i haven't run into this situation prior to getting the Material Inheritance functionality. So that being said I couldn't figure it out without it :D

Also Box#2 would perfect for the scene you are working on :)
