Perhaps I'd like to keep it loose, though maybe I can't have that if I want it to appear finished. So thoughts about that would be helpful too - thanks again!

Hello =]

I like the vivid colors and the buildings very much, but the thing that looks off to me is the empty space beyond the huge gate. I don't know if your concept is that this is the end of the city, but even if it is it shouldn't be so empty out there - maybe some mountains or clouds? I'm looking forward to the next images you post, because this is really good - I've always loved this 'loose, but still detailed' style :D

You're right - I filled up that empty space - and changed a few things

I really like that loose style too - but I think Ive over worked this - id like to be able to make those loose awesome concept art style pics
