Ill be honest, I still cant figure out a problem ive posted here before that seems somewhat simple but I just dont know what the hell is going on.. lol

basically I have a character which has the following problem...

At this point it seems to be only in the elbow area with this character and on the shoulder on a similar one (ok fine its IK joe and jane).. basically if I animate the elbow being either left or right on joe the opposite one wont work.. in other words..

If I have an animation on the left elbow its fine and it shows up on the graph, good... now I go to the opposite elbow and as soon as I set some keys the elbow that was animated first looses its movement.. the keys show up but there's no movement.. same with the shoulder on ik jane.. im thinking maybe there's a setting within the construction of the rigs and an option in my program that ill have to change I just need help finding that cause im cracking my skull here.

You should probably email someone your scene just to check it on their system, so you will know for sure if it's your maya in particular, or if it's something in the actual scene.

I'm using 4.5, so if you want, you can email it to me at judd@backtoback.co.za

Maya has a bug that could be causing this problem. Maya allows for two nodes to have identical names as long as they have different parent nodes. Unfortunately some functions don't specify a nodes full pathname (that is the node name prefixed with its parents name like: shoulderR|ElbowR) The setkey button is one of these functions that only sends the nodes name. So maya will connect key nodes to all objects with the same name even if they have different parents.

So I don't know if that is what is causing your problem but it is something to look out for. Make sure each joint or joint controller has a unique name. It might solve your problem.

jadamburke: The joints to seem to be uniquely named but all thoroughly go thru these and might just rename some cause I really wanna use this rig (Joe.V2).
