Hey everyone. I am working on a game with a group of friends and I am the rigger for the project. Now I am very competent with rigging in Maya, but we are using Max, which I am learning as I go. I am not the only person doing animations, so I have to make it user friendly. I decided to do a biped and then just add controllers to it. Well that is where the problem is. I can not do constraints with the biped and the controllers that I have created. Furthermore, I can't do wire parameters either. There has to be a way to do this. Does anyone know what I can do?

Thanks
Rob

There is absolutely no way to add custom controllers to a Biped (or rather I don't know any ;)). The only element of a Biped that I have managed to add a constraint or similar ever is the Root, and even for that I needed a Helper in between (link the Root to the Helper and apply the constraint to that).

I would advise on either building a custom rig (which shouldn't be too hard considering your experience with Maya...they're not that different) or use a different rig availible (eg Puppetshop (http://www.lumonix.net/puppetshop.html) ).

Thanks alot. I really like the puppet shop plugin. It is really useful. It would be best to make my own, but seeing that I am also the lead modeler for this game, I need to make life as simple as possible for myself, so I think the puppet shop will work for what I am trying to accomplish.
