hello,
I'm having some trouble rendering out particle systems.Basicaly what i'm trying to do is to have a dust cloud behind a car that's travelling on a dirt road.
The camera rotates around the car as it travels. the problem is that the particles are rendered correctly only when the camera is at a certain angle to the particles.. otherwise the particles get rendered shades of black.
It's like this.. if i take a shot from the front of the car, the particles look fine, i.e. nice and smokey, but if i take the same frame and take a render from teh back of the car, the same grey particles render as totally black.
Now i'm assuming that this has to do something with the directions that the particles are facing, in the ppg i've set the direction towards 'camera' but that doesn't help, i tried all th eother settings as well but none of them makes a difference.
Any help will be appreciated.

cheers

p.s. just to do a quick check on what i'm trying to say.. setup a simple disc emission and increase rate to 500 and view renders from two opposite sides.

Ok this might be kinda obvious, but have you checked if light is actually hitting the particles from the angle you are viewing. Because the particle billboards are basically flat polygons, they are very sensitive to light direction, and the shading can change dramatically if their angle to the light changes. Try turning off 'Apply Shading' under 'shading properties' in the Particle_Billboard node.
