Nice work there, my main problem with it (apart from the fact it's glorifying smoking lol) is the glow around the end of the cigarette. Make the glow a lot more localised, more realistic and replace with subtle smoke trails perhaps...

Thanks - this whole picture was basically a learning process for me, so I'll probably go back and rework the smoke at a later date. And hah, everyone I've shown the picture to has nailed me about the smoking ... ah well.

Hey there :] That's some very nice work you have there - I really like the colour scheme.
I think my only issue with it, however, is that it feels as if you've relied very heavily on dodge and burn for the shading. Maybe I'm wrong - but if you have, I've found that learning how to shade and highlight through using your own colour choices is by far more gratifying :)

Yeah, a smoking pic glorifies smoking but every other pic on here shows guns and axes and soldiers that's okay? lol
I like the pic. I think your csense of the style you're working with is really good. I also like the fact you're avoiding using straight lines to help with the effect. I think you need to work on some shading issues though. A couple of the shapes you rendered in the pants and the over use of glow suggest a kind of a wierd sense of form underneath. I'd keep working on the decisions you want to make with that and if all else fails, remember to keep it simple. I'm also more a fan of making things like that door a cool color (blue etc.) for contrast when the interior is so warm but that's only a personal preference.

the only crit is, if the cig was being held in the middle of her mouth the smoke would probably get in her eyes or nostrals, and not have quite as happy a look on her face.,.,
so i think the cig should shift to a corner of her mouth.,., especially if it's just hanging there.,.,
impressive style.,., is this the way you typically draw, or just developing.?,.?,

Hahaha.. Very good point, I never thought of that. Maybey its because its a little closer to reality than warriors weilding swords that they shouldn't be physically able to carry...lol

Thanks a lot for your comments! I've already begun working on something new to post here ...
malcolmvexxed: Yeah, I think I was happy enough with the face that I sort of neglected much of the rest of it. And you're quite right, the pants did give me some trouble.
noden: This is the style I typically use, yeah. ^_^ I'm still working out the kinks, though ... I have trouble drawing it from extreme lower and upper angles, which severely limits the dynamic quality of anything I do - it's unfortunate.
Enayla: Actually, the only thing I really used the dodge tool for was the hair ... I used a lot of random opacity black and white airbrushes, though, which I think accounts for the burn/dodge effects ... ?
All of you, thanks for your comments!
