Hello folks,

lately I am experimenting with maya fluids and seem to get a better understanding with them but there is one major thing I didnt get and couldnt find the answer until now. Maybe you can help me out.

One problem I am running into permanently is that my 3d fluids look pixelated and by far not as detailed as some I saw (ex. http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=86&t=791571)
from yourdaftpunk (hope its ok for you) even though I set my resolution of the container quite high. And even with High detail solver my fluids didnt look that good.
Is it important to cache the fluid before rendering and or to set playback to 0.5 or even less to get the details needed. I never heard that but there are quite some impressive fluids and I wondered that I maybe missed a important point?!

Thx in advance,
jaden

Have you changed the shading quality settings in the fluidShape node at all? I know that the usual fix for pixelated and jaggy fluids is to set the Render Interpolator from linear to smooth and tweak the quality number to suit your needs. It will slow down render time but it should give you what you need.
