can the crysis nanosuit be modeled entirely in maya or max without using any sculpting software like zbrush or mudbox..i am specially asking about the cuts in the suit.please refer to this link to see what i mean-http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,652902/Work-on-high-end-Crysis-Nanosuit-continues/Imagegallery/&article_id=652902&image_id=835217&show=original ..... how can i go about modelling all the intricately detailed patterns? do i need a sculpting software for this?right now i only have knowledge of maya.

I am pretty sure the Crysis Nanosuit was modeled without a sculpting app...at least judging from that image. It also doesn't look too hard...all you need is good SubD modelling skills (http://digitalapprentice.net/Community/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=67&Itemid=154).

Maybe you're lucky and one of the folks at Crytek has a look in this thread to tell you if I am right...I know that at least one of them ist visiting this board occasionaly ;).

thanx for replying...if it is indeed possible to model using max or maya...then what would be the best possible way/ method to approach it?

I'd start with a really lowpoly version, to get the proportions right, and plan on where to put what detail. Then I would model each piece separately and attach them together afterwards.
