that would be awesome.... I also want a way to make bones solid (instead of wireframe) in the perspectives (like mirai's bones!!)

SURE YOU CAN !

use the HARDWARE RENDER BUFFER ( Window/rendering editors/hardware render buffer )

go to render/attributes and change the background color to grey or white ... and then select "transform icons"

it should work, and you can add some antialiasing with "line smoothing" in "render modes"

I usually whip up some proxy bones out of nurbs and parent them to the joints. In a workflow to animate a hi-rez character, these proxy bones are like a happy by-product of the whole animation process. You could aways make those and just playblast the whole thing. Or use the hardware render buffer.

Honestly, I wish there was a more visually appealing way to show off rigs, but I guess that shows through in your animation.

since its all mel... can't someone make a change to the code, so that bones can be displayed as wire, shaded, and shaded wire....?

Its called

makeSolidSkeleton.mel

I think it is in the Animation section.

A pretty neat script. It can be useful, especially if you group all the geometry and put it on a layer and refrence it. Then you won't accidentally grab any of the bone geometry.
