I doodled a little girl character for an idea I had for a still (which with my track record, will almost never see the light of day). Anyway, I've spent part of today modelling her up but it's got to the stage where I'm a little uncertain with how she's turning out. She is a tiny bit too simplified from my initial conception(s), however I'm more concerned about her overall design...

Do you think she looks too generic? Or more importantly, does she look familiar...? It's been bugging me but I have the horrible feeling that I've ripped off someone elses character and I can't think who/why.

Hopefully I haven't but just in case, please let me know so I can change/scrap her before I get further along...

Thanks!

:D

(P.S: I am aware that her shoes are from the worst shoemakers in the world, I'm going to take them back and complain)

cool!

so far i mostly like it....i say mosty because theres somthing about the hair that im not sure about...i think it looks a little stuck on. Though of the top of my head i cant think of anyother way you could do it

also, i think the reson you think she looks generic (which she doesnt btw) is becasue she looks like the sister of your balloon head character, which is ofcource a very good thing:thumbsup:

are you going to give her some kind of doll/rag doll? i think that could work very well

other than that i think it looks great!

oh....because of her very reflective shoes (hdri?) se reminds me of Dorithy from Wizard of Oz:) ....Lions & Tigers & Bears Oh My!

Small girl from Monster Inc.?

Mushroomgod : My god - I do seem to have a thing for massive cheeks! Maybe she could carry the balloon head with her, hmm....

Yeh, I'm not 100% with the hair, but it was the easiest style I could think of with regards to being interesting, but not a pain in the arse. I'll have a play.

Rag doll you say... tempting, however she is going to have a pet so I don't know if that might be too much. Although now you've put the thought in my head it seems more and more appealing! :D

Darkusan : As soon as read that I thought "Oh sh;t, he's right...", her hair is very similar to Boo's, but hopefully (on checking, and a great excuse to watch the whole thing!) her head shape is different enough, but I can see exactly what you mean!

Small update, just some rough hands couple of tweaks - nothing spectacular;

I have to say, I'm not looking forward to giving her eyes, I quite like her like this!

C&C's welcomed like pudding.

Hi there AJ. :)

This is really very cool work my friend. She is a so cute character. Especialy her hands and shoes. :)

But I think rounded eyes look much more cute on her. Like the first picture, maybe you should make them rounder a bit.

Anyway, do you plan to animate it? I think it would be very fun to animate her. :)

BTW, do you use 3dsmax or maya?

She looks like very pretty, excellent work, I love the eyes (especially the eyeslashes !)

Only one thing maybe ... isn't the neck too long ?

AJ - haha, i dun really remember how Boo looks now..but once i saw your model and you mentioning it looking like some1.. immediatelly boo came into my mind haha.

And yeah i really think the neck is slightly too long.. make it shorter and more compact and i think she will look even cuter ! :scream:

And i can see she's happier in this model haha
Keep up the gd work!

Okay, I may have gone too far...

I've taken on people suggestions and shortened the neck and made her eyes rounder (and put a rough texture on them). Someone suggested to me to make her hair bunches a lot larger, so I've given that a shot... But I now fear that she's more like a cheap toy than a character,

Could people please tell me what they think? Thanks!

eheh....good!!! :)

I think she needs something of special....some main features......I dunno....a special smile? a special hairstyle? ....

Anyway...good work!

Cute and lovely doll!:)

I like a lot the eyes... but I can see something strange in that fatty cheeks... I think it has to do with the shape, not size... not sure... well, anyway something is not working there.

I liked it MUCH better without the hair and eyes tweak.

Really!

I made a little tweak of your girl in PS, to show some areas I wouls have tweaked a little. you can find a .gif of it here,
Tweak Pic (http://www.fellah.net/temp/Girl03_d.gif)

also, I agree that she looks a tad to much like a toy. but nothing that cannot be fixed.
here are a few suggestions,
ofcourse the textures will break the toyLook alot, some things to keep in mind(some very obvious)
- a tint of red to the cheeks.
- painted texture to the hair, can add alot.
- thicker eye lashes, to bring forward the eyes more.
- you could add the tearDuckt to, will add alot to the "real" look.

well, just some suggestion, might not be what you are looking for stylewise, up to you.

I hope you wont abandon this piece here. it's looking very good already, but she needs a little more work to reach the "perfect state".

cheers

she's so cute. i NO way does she resemble boo from Monster's Inc. I love the big pony tails. and her eyes are quite lovely.
i think the bag is too much.
maybe a teddy bear or something would be more kiddy like?
just a suggestion
a pet would be nice too.
keep it up!
does she have a name?
