Wow this is beautiful! I find it really moving and happy and hopeful despite the looming background. The choice of colours, the mood and the way that child dangles her leg sitting on that railing, such fine detail! Very inspiring.

Very nice work man. Reminded me a bit of Josh Kirby in terms of the colours and texture. The highest comment I can give is that this is now my desktop wallpaper, and I *never* bother with desktop wallpaper :)

Wow! Very nice image! And thanks for posting a bigger version, because the thumbnail doesn't do it justice. The thing I like most about this painting is the palette; beautiful for each side, and they work well together. But I do have two minor crits:

The notes from the girl playing the guitar should be rendered in the same style as the rest of the piece, imho. They are so crisp and solidly black that they appear to be text overlaid on the image instead of integrated into it.

The other issue is the super-simplified emoticon-like faces of the three children closest to the top of the image. The other children have faces which are so much more dimensional, and 'realistic' (even though they are quite stylized), that it makes the other faces seem unfinished.

All of this is just imho. You've created a very lovely image here, and I really like the story behind it as well.

Incredible concept. Wonderfully executed. I love the transition between light and dark with the trash to the top of the trees. And I love that the children are so happy. Almost like it's a miracle for the tree to be there. Love it! :D Great work!

Really intriguing and really cool work. There are so many elements of the artwork that I find fascinating, everything seems to have a personality. It's a strange sort of urban storybook, where the happiness and curiosity of spirited children absorbs and changes the impact of a dysfunctional environment. I think the flat facial designs work well for this particular piece, considering how lighthearted it is. But all in all the concept is smart and functions well... the sun/moon, blue/orange skies keeps me toggling the horizontal bar in my browser window.
