i know how to change the drive letters of partitions (using partition magic) but how do i change the drive letters of CD and DVD drives?

Right-click on "My Computer" and select "Manage"
In Computer Management window, click on "Disk Management" on the left-hand side view panel
In the lower right-hand view panel right-click the CD-ROM drive you want to change and select "Change Drive Letter and Paths..."
that's it.
