View Full Version : Shag network render problems.
Iain McFadzen 05-13-2002, 09:32 AM I am getting a network rendering anomily with Shag Fur. Frames rendered on one of the servers render the fur significantly lighter than all of the others, resulting in flickering when the movie is put together. It doesn't matter too much when it's only one server, but there are plans to extend the renderfarm to a lot more machines so I'd rather crack this problem before it gets any more complicated.
All the servers are running Max4.2.6 (with Intel Optimisation) and the latest version of Shag. AFAIK they are all configured the same.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Is only the fur rendering lighter, or the whole scene?
The only things I can think of is ambient light level (though that is stored in the scene so shouldn't give you any trouble) or missing image maps used as a projection map on a spotlight.
Good luck!

Yeah it's just Fur which is rendering differently, and all the maps and whatnot are definately present and correct.
the search continues....

Sorted it, or at least figured out what's causing it. It appears that upgrading Shag from Max3 to Max4 does not give you the same version number as when you install a new license on Max4.

i'm running into what seems to be the same rendering anamoly... could you shed a little more light on how you were able to resolve this problem?
i looked into the version number issue, but the results im getting from each machine contradict what you were saying..
thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
