View Full Version : Wow! I like it! <----First time user
Shade01 08-02-2003, 06:02 AM I've had Maya PLE on my hardrive for awhile but I never used it because I don't like messing with neutered programs. Got bored today and fired it up. I still don't have an asscrack clue what I'm doing yet but I can already tell that I like the workflow of how you do things. I'm a longtime Lightwave user but I know I need to learn this program because I'm tired of people asking me do I know it :) Any advice on making the transition easier coming from Lightwave? Any tips to share, the kinds that aren't in the manual?

Hi Shade,
I'm an old LW user too...using them both now. All I can say is, don't stop yourself on the tools you get in front of you, and don't worry about the lot of options they got. Try just to mix them with no limitation, you'll be amazed!!!!
An example??? Do a bone chain, apply a spline Ik to it and them make this spline a softbody...and you got bone dynamics!!!! eheheheh
Joke apart...I found that the hot box better fit to my workflow rather than using menus (but someone hayes it), and always keep the script editor open...you'll learn a lot from it

Hey thanks, I'll will try those things. Anybody know a site that has good beginner tutorials? I've been trying the ones that come with PLE but I don't feel like they are put together well, like it explains something once then expects you to remember for all other tutorials so I keep having to refer back to some other tutorial just to follow a step in the current one.
