I have recently started attending classes in media arts and animation. I have been playing around with 3d work and other digital art mediums off and on for years now. I recently started taking a serious jab at digital painting. I would like to know what is thought of my first two. Both of these were completed in photoshop CS4 with a completion time of around 2-3 hours each.
This first picture I painted for a friend for a project.

This one was done on a whim. I just wanted to paint a watery scene and a girl popped up.

I am pretty happy with both of them seeing as they are my first completed paintings. Any critiquing would be appreciated. Also if anyone has a comment or suggestion as to what would make these better, please leave any information regarding reaching a helpful tutorial if at all possible.
