Hey all. I'm trying to create a scene in Max where there's a single spotlight illuminating a dark area, but the beam itself is visible (see pic for an example).

I can get the light set up fine, I'm just having trouble getting that visible beam effect going. Any help?

Cheers in advance.

If you're using vrayshadow, then you're likely unable to get the volume light effect. Change to shadow map then it should work. Personally I prefer to use scanline renderer to create the volumelight effect, as vray render extremely slow for this.

You could use the VrayEnvironmentFog atmosphere effect. Works fine, and is not too slow when not using textures in the fog density.
Play with the fog distance value and the lights intensity. Also check the documentation for that effect to see what it can do.
