Go to www.boris3d.de

You should really do a search before asking questions like this, because the same thing gets asked very often, I think there is even a thread that is sticky on Tutorials for newbies. Just go to the search and type in tutorials or beginner and you'll get a really nice response. I'm really not being mean about it at all, it just saves you and everybody else time :)

Good Luck!

YOu have to be in the modeling menu, Then look across the top of your main menu bar. You should see "Edit Polygons" pulldown, and go to like 4 down, and you'll see it. > Extrude face.

instead of all these booring reading tutorials, you just have to go to http://sv1.3dbuzz.com/vbforum/uunr_vtmlist.php?c=1 and start dload their movies.. they are really _fun_ and very helpful! AND their free. :buttrock:

then you have some more movies but they dont havt that good sound-quality :thumbsdow as those on 3dbuzz

http://www.digital-tutors.com/digital_tutors/maya/index.htm

i suggest that you view the 3dbuzz first, and then the digital-tutors bacause on 3dbuzz they go thrue maya from the beginning with all the buttons and so on, but their not finnished yet so if its something that you didnt get from buzz you can get it at digital

Thanks, I checked the first five pages in the tutorials thread and most were for intermediate to advanced people, and the beginners ones weren't what I was looking for or something, I had a reason not to use them...

as for the 3d buzz tutorials...heh, I remember looking at them and making a note to read them, unfortunately i forgot i made the note in my head...and forgot those tutorials all together. thanks!

and btw, I am learning Maya because it came with UT2K3 and I want to make models for my maps! :buttrock:

i dont think you need to know maya to do that... and at the least, you could make it in whatever your used to most, and import it (right?)
Cheers,
