Don't ask me why, but I've been working on this model for a little while. I still have a ways to go on the sole as you can see.

[edit] Forgot to mention: UVs and textures courtesty of BP2!

Nice model and textures, but I shudder to think about just what animal that flesh colored leather came from. ;)

Hey Adam--you know what? You're pretty good at this 3d stuff.

Great work--I feel an emoticon coming on (and I hate emoticons)

Thanks for the comments guys. MM, the grommets (holes) are supposed to have visible edges.

nice pic dude but I can't help but think you need a bump map on the soles. it just looks to flat now.

Great work, Adam. Love the rubber sole look.

Nice job, but I agree about the bump map, and you probably should make the laces longer :)

those soles need to be dirty...the laces need to be longer and frayed..
the model is very cool and the texturing is cool as usual...but me thinks you already knows about my comments...so get to work bud and finish it!...is that the way you model your characters nowadays...shoes first!!

EDIT: Ooops sorry just seen laces comments above!!

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions! Here's an update with a fair bit of change to the sole. Still needs a little tweaking, plus the shoelace fraying.

Hi Adam,
excellent!
Besides the points you mentioned, I think you need some wrinkles in the leather (where the shoe bends when walking etc. ). The dark part could do with some wear and tear also. Other than that: top notch!

now thats very cool...

needs a bit of work on the cloth material around the ankle part at top of shoe...maybe fading on material and smoothing ware and tear...also just thought about the tongue part needs a lot more wear and creasing...just a thought...other than that it kicks..no pun intended!

Great advice folks... and a very nice looking shoe thus far...

a bud of mine who uses C4D, once told me... just place an object you wish to model, right in front of you... what do you see... model it :D

now while this would not apply to critters and such from the ole imagination, this would totaly apply to a model of a shoe... so yea, more wrinkles and wear and tear would be a cool thing...

I have noticed this sort of thing with the auto thread as well... now I like to look at new looking auto's and paint jobs as much as the rest eh, but it really turns my crank to see a model which looks so real, with usage in mind here, that if you parked said model between a couple of real cars, in a real photo, that you would not be able to tell which was modeled and which were real... this to me is the ultimate challenge in texturing and lighting eh...

have a good one all, and yea man... shoe looks great so far... keep the faith and model on eh :D
