Wow, I'm in the same boat. I have Max 4.2 and am thinking of upgrading to Max 6, and I have an old Lightwave 5.6 and am thinking of upgrading to ver. 8. I would first check out 3DBuzz.com. The have a VTM for Lightwave now. It is really for beginners, but it may get you use to the program quickly. Also, go to Flay.com and check the tutorials there as well. If all else fails, go to Newtek's site and check out all the LW tutorials there.
Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Ron K.

I think someone did this awhile ago, try searching this forum. Also reading the manual will go along way to understanding.:)

I'm both a Lightwave user and a 3dsmax user. If you have any questions about the differences or which tools compare to what let me know and I'll try and help you.
