View Full Version : Problem animating simple scene

I'm taking a beginning 3d animation class and we were given a scene to animate for homework. So far we've only animated one bouncing ball in class, and I'm having problems with animating several things at once during a scene. The scene is a hilly ground with a snowman and falling snowflakes. The snowflakes animated fine and I'm trying to animate the snowman picking up a snowball, pulling back to throw it and getting hit in the face with another snowball from off-camera.

I've selected the upper body of the snowman and animated him bending down. When I select his arm to animate that, the keyframes from the snowman bending over disappear. I assume this is normal since I've deselected the upper body that I previously animated. Is that correct? But when I keyframe the arm scooping up the snow and play it back, the snowman no longer bends down. So what exactly am I doing wrong here?

I'm not too happy with the class so far. It's a one day class from 9a-3p and today is the third class. The first day of class we animated the ball, the second class we had a substitute who took the whole class to review 2d priciples (which we just had 2d class on the same damn thing) and make a flipbook of different types of balls falling, wasting our time and not animating a single thing. So it's no wonder I'm having problems here...

Thanks in advance,

Bah, solved it. Forgot the most important part, the Hypergraph! Duh. *bangs head against table*

Mods, feel free to delete this post! Or hell, make this a sticky to show everyone my stupidity, or a "what NOT to do" threadstarter!
