i'm having a problem with my raytracer settings
i have a model which uses a blinn shader for a chrome material.
previously i was doing test renders at 600x800 [portrait] with material reflection limit at 1 and render_globals raytrace quality set to 10 [basically production quality default] to get it all looking right.
then i went to render a small sequence to check that textures were fine over time and set ref limit up to 2 and quantel PAL res. now my reflections 'crackle'. do i need to set ref quality to 20 to get the same quality reflections due to doubled reflection limit? would different multi-pixel filter [currently triangle] help?
i'm a relative maya newbie, but been using 3dsmax and predecessors for about 10yrs so i'm used to a dodgy reflections and texture popping etc, but uptill now maya engine seems better.
any advice would be greatly appreciated
