This is way cool, the direct rendering of fumefx sims should be verrry interesting.

Great work Frantic!

Almost an understatement, the fumefx integration is a great addition, you can do sooo much with it. Cache straight to PRT AND create multiple partitions to add density, stack multiple Krakatoa Channel Modifiers, Motion Blur...mmmmnnn the list goes on. They are great companions for sure, I'd almost go as far to say best friends :)

Now Krakatoa has grown into a beast :) Diving in ASAP :) And, the most important thing - if you render in youtube resolution, the demo doesn't produce watermark!

Happy to see some excitement for the new release!

Seriously, it could have been called 2.0.
When we started working on it a year ago, it was planned as a quick 1.2 update. Then the feature list (driven mostly by internal VFX project needs) grew so much we thought it should be at least 1.5, but once you use it, it will feel like a major update.

Thanks for the support!

Most important feature is speed (ofcourse it was fast enough before, but now it's superior fast than before..) The way now it handles matte objects and how fast it renders. It's really great. When I had to rerendered old stuff again for full HD stuff, it was very fast to render with all geometry at once as matte objects. (In previous version, it was taking time and I had to make layers rendering for matte objects).

Fast, more new stuff and more capabilities in new 1.5.. :buttrock:

We are flying back home on Saturday and will spend most of next week fixing the issues we found while demoing. Beta licenses expire on August 12th, so we will try to release it ASAP.

There will be a demo version as soon as the commercial version goes online - the full version runs in Evaluation mode when not licensed, with just a watermark at resolutions above 480x360 and no network rendering support.

I realise that the plugin for maya might not be in your picture, but it would certainly be helpfull to have some easier workflow for us puny maya users...
I want to use krakatoa, so give us some options ;)

Sorry if I'm boring, but...

Thanks

There's always exporting particles using RealFlow plugin and bringing them into Max using it's realflow plugin and doing some manipulation inside of PFlow if you really need to :-D
