hi friends,

I have a little problem with biped, i imported a biped with its model and a motion capture .bip on it in a scene and i can't seem to position the biped where i want in the scene.

Every time i move it to a new position and i scrub the animation bar it goes back to its original position in the scene which is 0,0 (center of the world).

Anybody know what i can do ?

Thanks.

Go back to where your bip scene originally is, check if you have keys on Biped01 object: Position, Rotation, Scale. Sometimes if you dont create some empty keys for Biped01 (even your character stays the same position in XYZ, it will transform to some unexpected position in scene when import or merge.

Link the COM to a dummy object, then reposition the dummy.

that was a useful tip but I have a follow up question.

When I reposition a Biped the mesh with physique get's inverted in the torso area of the body. But not right away, only after I scrub the timeslider or render the scene.

Any clue to why this happens?

Try using motion flow mode and open the motioncap file in the
motion flow editor ,then there should be a rollout lets you enter
the begining position in xyz for this biped and this motion clip .
By the way,you should transfer the mocap file into *bip file first.
I think it may help. :wavey:

If you want to position it fast and dirty (meaning no more manipulations on the bip) just simply select the mesh and the biped together and group it. You can move it wherever you want this way.

My 2 cents.

ps: make sure your biped is not renderable b 4 grouping.

Thanks for the input. Grouping sounds like one way to go.

What if I want to clone 100 characters... Is there any way to automate this?

To make life easier I can use the same Biped and mesh and simply retexture the clones with a random material script (thank you Niel Blevins for that).

I figured I could use a crowd system with a 100 delegates and use them to position the bipeds. But how do I get 100 Bipeds with mesh into the scene?
