View Full Version : Quick update on my short...
jjburton 08-01-2003, 07:00 AM Things are moving a long swimmingly...:) Texturing is done, modelling (main character) is done. Successfully got test animation from Maya to LW for rendering and sasquatching (time permitting). Just chugging away. Anyway, here's Tiko rendered...

Hope to have some showable animation tests next week.
Workflow because of splineIK needs is as follows:
LW (model, texture, uv)->maya (rig, animate)->LW (particles, rendering, fun)
....gave me a new avatar as well:D

Love your character he looks great:applause: , but i'm interested is what you mean by spline ik??? I dont know much about Maya, but your character doesnt look like it would be that hard to rig in LW??? Anyway good work, and i cant wait to see a few animation tests!!

How'd you get the animation from Maya to Lightwave?

Wok- Thanks:)...if you want to read about my attempts to rig in LW, simply to a search in the lw forum for Tiko, and that will answer all your questions. SplineIK is an IK solve rthat uses a spline as a a solver. The bones just run along it.
Shade- Much determination and frustration...:) Settled on this technique (http://www.lunaseven.com/tut01.html) .

Wow, thanks for the tut link. Thats a little, you know like the universe is little, easier then how I tried to do it. However because of the pain and misery of moving animation back and forth between Maya and LW I finally just fight it in LW. Can't wait for LW8!
Great looking character - very unique with lots of personality. Definitely looking forward to seeing the animation!
