View Full Version : First model
rottle 08-01-2003, 05:39 AM Hey, Ive been playing around with lightwave for a couple of months, and its pretty much my first 3d package i tried learning. (Max was before but i never got anywhere with that). Wen i first opened lightwave i thought the interface had a really really steep learning curve but now i've grown to like it a lot. Well anyway this is the first serious model i ever made, and I used a tutorial to get the basic shape down and such, and to guide my workflow. Here it is, i went by the Nissan Z tutorial hosted by newtek:

Good job!
Its fantastic for a first model. It is missing some texturing though... makes the windows look a little weird and the car body doesnt seem to look quite right to me.
But I am not the greatest judge of cars by any means...
At any rate, great job!

looks pretty good for a first model. It actually has almost a leathery bean bag kind of look for the surface. I like it.

I dig that car. Is it based on a Porsche? Almost looks like a Boxter. Can you tell me if it is a single poly model or are the wheels seperate and animatible?

Everyone thanks for the kind words. Its a Nissan 350Z. The wheels are All different in different layers, and separate. I used a lot of photos from www.my350z.com as reference.
Clave: btw, do you know how long cgchat will be down? I haven't been able to get to it for days.

here are some more renders. The first one is when i tried to go for a GI render but i forgot to make the big sphere material double sided, i got an unexpected but cool result (first render) and the second time i corrected it(second render), both came out cool:
