Title: ...What have I done!!
Name: Juan Jiménez
Country: España
Software: Photoshop

In this piece i accomplished some things i had learnt from great illustrators and i wanted to try out. I think i've made a step forward on lighting and texture :) Still a long way to go, though. It took me endless hours but i'm happy with the outcome. Crits welcome!!

This is really funny. Good job. All he need's is a bunch of golden bananas in his left hand.

Overall the painting is incredible, but there are a few tangents bothering me.

The tangent from the mouse's screen right cheek and the ape's fist.

The bottom of the giant ape and those points on the wall are barely touching in various places. (plus I'm not sure why he's holding that chain)

Finally the spear flying above the mouse towards the screen is forming a bit of a tangent with the ape's loin cloth, plus the value/colors are similar. (and it looks like the ape is looking at the spear as opposed to the mouse)

It's so amazing, but my eye keeps going to those spots as they break up the flow a bit. Otherwise I'm just blown away, I love the rendering, poses, faces, just great work all over.

Thank you guys! Very nice critics:) Actually i wanted to add a stolen treasure in one mouse's hand, but it didn't work although i tried at least 10 different spots. I'll check out those tangent elements to improve the flow!

You are not THE Juan Jimenez, are you?
Not that I'm saying that your work isn't amazing, it's just that it was such a coincidence that you have the same name, are a talented illustrator and are Spanish...

I thought it was a real big change in style if you were to be the same one. :)
I guess you know him but just in case. He's been one of my favorites of all time:

THE OTHER JUAN JIMENEZ (http://www.juangimenez.com/caratula.html)

Hope you like it if you didn't know him.

Nevertheless, great work you have up there.

Cheers,

Juan Jimenez is a very common name in Spain and other spanish speaking countries (as I think you know due to your name). As common as John Smith can be. Also notice that THE OTHER JUAN JIMENEZ is not spanish but argentinian.

I like very much the style and overall look of the illustration. My only crit is that the main character is a bit overexposed for my taste (as someone said before).

Thank you all guys!

First time in 2D choice award gallery, i'm really excited! Didn't expect it...
No, i'm not that Juan Gimenez. Note that his surname begins with letter G, but it's a nice coincidence, and he's actually argentinian.

About the crits:
- the mouse is too bright, but in part cuz i did it purposely. It could be better integrated in the image though.
- i already 'fixed' those tangents, and the 'new' version is available at my blog omegus.blogspot.com (http://omegus.blogspot.com), but you won't find much differences on it :)

Thank you again for the feedback!
Cheers

Good Job ,i really like the colors, but for me the face of "rat" (or rodent) needs more shadow.
Because the contrast is too-much intensify between face and background !

I'm sorry in advance for my approximately english!

very nice.

But I think Rat Jones face is to bright in comparison to the rest of the drawing. :lightbulb
although i belive you did that on purpose to highlight his expression.

An other thing is the speer on the left, i think it disrupts de link between the creature jumping down and Indiana Ratatouille. I see that Michael5188 (http://forums.cgsociety.org/member.php?u=37282) already made this remark. sorry.
