View Full Version : Character: Filthy Demon
Rivendale 08-01-2003, 01:28 AM Hi, here's a lowpoly character I've been working on as a personal project for my portfolio. He is 2839 polys.
Maybe he wouldn't look like this in-game today, but maybe in few years when we have realtime sub-surface scattering and other cool stuff he could.;)

Thank you phishmann :)
hello? I know this may be a dumb question but I gotta learn!!!
Question : How do you achieve this sort of rendering where the wire is rendered on hte mesh?

I use max5 so I'm not sure if max5 can do this type of render

mora- You can clone the mesh and apply a wireframe-material to the clone. Sometimes the wire renders on top and sometimes not. I fit doesn't just do something in MAX and render again. It's good if all that is rendered is part of the same mesh too.
In my rendering I have done some additional layer mixing in Photoshop also, maybe not really necessery for a wireframe render but hey I couldn't help myself:D
I'm sure thats how its done! But its because my friend told me that there is a plugin for such render,I guess he was joking about plugins.Hey maybe there is a plugin ??:applause:
:lightbulb thanx for your help:bowdown:

mora- maybe he was talking about a plugin called "edge map" wich draws lines along the edges. It wont produce as clean results as an actual wireframe though.
Comments/critique anybody?

This is great! Your textures are simply amazing! Pulling off something like this in low rez is a great achievement. The glowing eyes and nail piercings give him an especially scary quality.
I think the only thing holding him back from being truly fearsome is the fact he only has one leg. I picture something like this hoping around and that seems a bit scary, but in actual combat it would severly hinder his performance. He would be really easy to push over, if he missed a swing on his opponent he would probably fall over on his own. Then once he was on the ground he would be easy pickings. So I would either give him a second leg to increase balance or simply change his weapon type to a pair of daggers. Hop and stab might work, hehe. But I don't "buy" the fact he could swing the weapon he has effectively.
I really do love that weapon though, so I would say go with 2 legs instead of changing that. The skeletal legs with the rotting flesh combo works well. And you can never have enough bones, hehe.

Deathcricket- Thanks for the feedback. I agree he looks a bit unstable, but what I thought was that he would support himself on his arms also, kinda gorilla style and one of his attacks could be kicking with the hoof.
