Womball 07-31-2009, 12:00 AM What type of clothing do people usually wear at Siggraph? I was thinking pants might be a bad idea during this time of year.

Consider a warm and humid weather so use t-shirts, and shorts or bermuda pants. Exhibitors usually wear kakis and polo shirts.

In warm climates I prefer to wear my snowsuit, hat and gloves. You never know when the next Ice Age is coming. ;)
No, it'll be dang hot, so just sport those short shorts and a t-shirt and you'll be just fine. I've heard you can compare the New Orleans weather at this time to the weather in Singapore (for anyone who went this past December).

Don't forget the freezing convention center climate.

casual, comfortable clothes.
I always bring a light jacket to keep warm during sessions and CAF.
Most importantly: COMFORTABLE SHOES!!

all I gotta say is no polyester. Natural fibers. sweat rag. Maybe even a fan. I'm not kidding you'll make lots of friends.
Ladies:
-hair tie
-non-padded bras (it gets wayyyy too hot)
-no liquid makeup
-waterproof everything (mascara)
You'll thank me ladies

I won't wear a padded bra. I was considering just wearing a barrel like in the cartoons, but I might freeze in the convention. (I thought they were the Little Red Hot Riding hood cartoons of Tex Avery, but there not. If you remember what cartoon this is from let me know)
Shorts and shirt sound nice. Maybe some boots or sneakers.

I just bring jeans, tshirts and sneakers (and one light jacket that may stay packed).
Unless you plan to have dinner on some of the upper scale places like K-Paul's, Broussards, etc. which some require business casual (maybe kakis and a shirt, but not jacket and tie).

Skip on the flat sandals and wear some good shoes. I remember I wore sandals last time I was back at siggraph 00 in NO and had blisters on my feet after day 2 (not too bright).

That's a good point. While I'm down there, I'm probably gonna pick myself up a decent pair of sandals. No more of these $2.50 pairs from Old Navy that hurt to walk in! Power to the people!
