hi!!:wavey:

I have tried to put an animated 256 colour gif with alpha to a plane, and it doesn't change as long as I change a frame, only the first frame of the whole 100 frames is shown and rendered.

Could you help me with this? I would like to see the whole animation.

Thanks!!!!:p

Actually, I don't think that MAX supports animated gifs. I guess they are too complex for MAX to handle:rolleyes: ;)
(I could be wrong though, maybe there's some script that does it)

You could save each frame as a .tga and load it in as a tga-sequence instead.

Hi there... I've got no answer but i'm very curious about it !
I'm not sure that 3D Studio can display a gif animation.
It plays either Video or Image sequences. I've never came across
Picture Animations.

yeah, I've forgotten to say I use shockwave 3D, it uses only jpg, png or gif files. And I have made a fire sequence using phoenix (digimation tm) and I have saved it in tiff files for getting a good quality, but...i had to convert it to gif...('cause shockwave's thing...). I need an alpha channel into a sequence, and shockwave doesn't either support sequences...:annoyed:. ...it's another bad thing in this really bad engine....

well, thanks anyway!!!! :hmm:

bye!

Adobe's "ImageReady" has full support for animated gifs. Should be no problem saving each frame out into seperate images using that. Possibly similar freeware programs floats around on the 'net as well..

It's still a sucky workflow what with the converting back and forth and whatnot though :).

JASC's paintshop pro comes with a program called animation shop. You could load your images into that and it would make the animated gif for you (with transparent background).

Heres a link to download the free animations shop demo. I think it's fully functional for 30 days.
