ostov 07-31-2003, 07:07 PM Hey dudes!
I got a msi 865PE Neo2 Motherbord with a c-media sound card (c-media 9739a) I can get to install the drivers I got from msi (http://www.msi.com.tw) and c-media's (http://www.cmedia.com.tw)
The thing that happends after that I try to install the driver is that the pc will not use this drivers and when I try c-medias own setup installer it says that I dont have a c-media sound system. Does somebody know what to do becaus I dont have any sound now and that kind of sux!

You need to go into the BIOS (hit delete when you see the MSI logo during boot) and enable the c-media sound card. I'm 95% sure it's disabled by default. I think you can find the settings under the "Integrated periphials" menu in the main BIOS screen.
Read the manual that came with the MoBo. That will tell you where to find it and how to enable it.

You don't have any speakers on??? :surprised
Try hooking up some speakers. That usually does the trick. ;)
If you do have speakers hooked up and turned on it's hard to say what could be causing the problem, if you have the chip enabled in the BIOS, and the drivers still won't load.
Why don't you go into Device Manager in Windows and see if the c-media chip shows up in there, or if there are "Unknown Devices" listed. If there is some other soundcard listed Windows probably auto-detected the chip and loaded it's own drivers. Then if the c-media drivers aren't WHQL-certified then by default windows won't load them. If there are Unknown Devices listed try manually upgrading the drivers for those and see if you can get it to work that way.

Is that Win 2K? If it is did you follow the instructions for installing the USB 2 drivers? Mis-alocated drivers could be causing part of the problem.
I can't help you without more information. What OS? Is all the other hardware installed and functioning correctly? Has this been a problem since day-1, or was it working and then it stopped?
I would say just do a format-reinstall of the OS and start over.

Well then I would say try returning your current board for a replacement. It is possible you got a board with a defective sound chip. I don't know what else to suggest. Sorry I couldn't do more.
