View Full Version : Wrapping tentacle

I was just wondering if anyone had any idea on how one might go about making a tentacle wrap around an object. I want a tentacle to lower onto an object, make the tip wrap around and then lift it. I've tried to use the twist space warp, path deforms but still nothing... any ideas?

Bones + Skin = good
I imagine SplineIK would serve you well.

I agree, I think spline Ik would do the trick.

In the past I have done something similar by lofting on a NURBS curve and then animating the path

a good bone setup & a lot of patience :)

You could also use dynamics, though that method does open up alot of headaches. Reactor's spline(rope) dynamics kick a significant amount of bottom, so you could start there. Softbodies could work too.

A path deform mod could work if you just switched out the geometry(animate the visibility). Remember, it does'nt have to BE perfect, it just has to LOOK perfect.
