View Full Version : Characters - Head tests
rolhionjs 07-31-2003, 10:09 AM Hi all,
As i'm affiliated to www.3d.sk (http://www.3d.sk) I'm going to test different reference pictures on different models to find a good shader for each of them.
Some start (more to come)

Very realistic indeed. My only crits on the top one would be his upper lip (there seems something wrong with the model) and the 'red-ness' of his eyes. The pic at the bottom is as realistic as it can get imo :applause:

Hi!
Correct the nose-wings and the corners of the eyes.
Great work nonetheless!
By the way, finearts have great reference stuff. I recently modeled a head out of one of those photos, too.

Looking cool on first glance.
But since they're projected photos I would be more interested in how they work in different lighting situations or from different angles. I guess they won't work in animations?
And could you show us the underlying geometry?
prrr!

Sorry, I don't get it. Are you showing us realistic models you made, or models you textured or is this a skin shading exercise?
It would help a bit if you would add some info for what you want to achieve for each pic and what method you used.
Otherwise we can only be impressed with what we see ;)

Very cool & realistic !
But they don't have eyelashes, that's a bit strange...

you are just stinking amazing:eek:
how long does it take you to model a head, like phase 1 modeling time, phase 2 unwrapping time and phase 3 texturing time?

Dude, this is just awesome! Not much else to say... I really like the cracks on the lips of the African and the rendering on the floating head:applause:

Well Strike as ever, your work is visualy efficient. I've noticed that you're improving your modeling skills 'till your chinese girl.
En plus tu changes de schémas d'éclairage, MR a été très convainquant a ce que je peux voir :)
Par contre le gradiant de la dernière image est pas super heureux (à moins que tu adapte l'eclairage).

the texture on lips dose look amazing but i've never in my life seen any man have lips the same size as his nose! i dont know do you have a reference pic showing that?
but they do look pretty good though

is it self illumination? Or your have your own shader?
Because on the black guy, the eyes ahve the same reflection than the photo?

sympa mais ca reste un peu du photo mapping, en tous cas je preferais voir tes modeles de monstres que j'ai vu sur ton site posté sur cgtalk ...qui ma foi sont vraimment terrible

I've seen that black guy's texture on so many models i just can't comment on it as a shader work anymore. The source photo has a good quality, so many people like to use it. It would be better if you post a quicktime turnaround or something so that we can see how it behaves under different angles of lighting.
