View Full Version : Vurdalakis V3 (character) WIP
harmonic01 07-31-2003, 05:19 AM Hey People.
I decided to take up one of my old models and resume working on it. Let me know what you think.
Also, I was wondering, how would you go about clothes wrinkles?
Should I model some in or put it in textures?
Or should I have cloth wrinkles at all for this character?

gawd, I really like the muscle definition in the arms... I can't find legitimate references (body builders are so obnoxious, they are so buff, that i can't even see the normal muscles, I just see every muscle in their body, and thats not normal) could you maybe help me out with that? (eg. references, maybe what method you use? I dunno...)
also, as far as wrinkles go, i think maybe subtle modeled wrinkles would be cool, and for the tiny ones, you could texture them... he shouldn't be too detailed, cause hes a cartoonish character.
Cheers,

Hey Gremlin. Thanks for your reply. Yeah what you metioned for the cloth wrincles is probably what I will do.
As for references. I used google.com and looked for images typing in keywords like "arm muscles" "arm anatomy" "muscles" "lower leg muscles" and such. And for the arms I also looked at my own arm or tried to feel how mucles go. While modeling, I realised I shoudl know anatomy better and should find that anatomy book I have here somewhere. I also looked at body builders couse all I wanted to know is how muscles go. You can imagine layers of fat on muscles so to not define so much of the muscles. Anyways, I'm planing on making morph targets for relaxed muscles and defined muscles. Hope it'll work how I want it. :-)

wow sweet model here ! it has got alot of character in it. One crit is that i believe the neck is going to far up. From behind it looks as if he's got a really long neck but he really doesn't.
Very Nice Model, good work!
About the wrinkels, just like Gremlin said is the best I think.... Maybe A bit or none modeled deformation. And do some wrinkel texturing....(Bump Map)

I'm in class right now and thought I'd use this time to do some more modeling. So I added wrinkles to his shorts.

nice wrinkles:applause:
Your model is very nice and clean. Gd work
Hmm one opinion? maybe add some more thickness to his shoes? the area that meet the leg around the ankle?
think that will make it nicer ;) perhaps add a cushion or something around that area.

I have to say buddy that is one fine model you have going on there, i just love the muscle definition.
Ok i have a question? How have you rendered the images with the wire frame over the top, have you composited them in photoshop or something???

Thanks for replyes guys.
wolfy2525, I made exact copy of the mesh in exact same place, then used a lattice modifier on it, which basically turned the mesh in to a renderable wireframe. So I had 2 versions, one normal and one as wireframe.
