View Full Version : Creating particles that cast light

Hi I'm trying to create a particle effect that has light emitting from the particles e.g. dark room and a character is being hit by sparks but i need the sparks to light his face up.. Any ideas or links to any online tutorials would be grateful. Thanks in advance.

In your particle's material, if you're using mental ray you can simply turn up your ambient and/or incandescence values in the shader, increase Final Gather's area to say 4 or even 10, and use the material as a way of lighting up your environment.

Not accurate the way lights would be, and no photon emission, but it would look pretty cool if done properly!
