I've just recently started trying maya. I have used lightwave for a couple of years now, and one feature I can't seem to find in maya is the layers that lightwave modeler has. It is a handy feature I miss, is there something similar in maya?

I could be blind of course :)

this is layers in Maya, on the far right of the UI there is a channel box it should be at the bottom of that as a seperate section.
If not on your status line at the very far right the last one there is a button that says Channel Box/Layer Editor, click that then your channel box should appear.
