excellent caricature!
I like the hair esp.
Character-wise- it might carry better if you furrow his brow in that perpetual look of concern he is known for (that's probably more a setup issue than a modelling one). You may want to thin the nose a bit more below the browline, the real Bush's nose has always struck me as unusually narrow throughout, but I am not in front of any photo reference. . .
Really nice model!

Thank´s for the replies. I agree on the eyebrow thing. He should really look more concerned. Thanks alot!
And I have been waiting for the makeup-comment:) I have the bad habit of paint them a bit too aggressively. I wanna avoid the dullish feeling that can happen otherwise. But maybe this a bit too much...

great model. If your looking for more a ventriloquist dummy shouldn't there be lines down the sides of the mouth for the wood joint?
Andreasson

I was not trying to do a ventriloquist doll, just get some of the feeling. But no big deal... just a thought.

Great model. I have to disagree with any of the put-downs of Bush posted.
Would you rather have a liberal democrat president? Democrats make me sick. :argh:
I will laugh so hard at you democrats when Bush is re-elected in November.

I think the blush and sore eyes add that streesed look. and the bright lips shows that sensativity of the character that has no choice but to be strong. What's there to crit ? Appearantly this is a comedic style that needn't a title to tell who it's supose to be.

yeah, what are the odds that a caricature of a current president designed to look like a ventroloquist's dummy would provoke political discussion?

It takes a lot of courage i guess to look on your reference so long, just to model this head (i would suggest some improvements but i don't have that courage). Please find the guts to post your final work here. Would love to see another GI Joe type of thread coming up.

I Just heard the Voice for your animation its pretty funny. But have you thought of using actuall clips from some of his speeches? you could probably cut together some pretty good stuff if you combine some of his speaches especially from when he was governor. I think you can get away with using that kind of thing and not have to worry about it because he is, well the president. if thats what you want to call him I prefer monkey boy but thats just me.

Really nice work! However, I do have suggestions for your phonemes.
I think the "E" and "I" should be showing some lower teeth, as it is it doesn't feel like the eeee or aiiiie sound is being conveyed clearly. The "I" should be an E with the teeth further apart and the tongue standing up inside a little.
I also thing your "A" sound is too rounded, with his wide lips I think the mouth should be more square (and maybe not quite as open vertically, although that's flexible :) ).
Your current "A" phoneme looks to me like "oh" and your "o" looks like "oo". You could keep these phonemes, you will need them, but just relable them.
Don't forget "T" and "S" -- the mouth isn't closed like "P", and there is a little teeth showing. You could probably get away with one shape for both. This can also be used for "R".
I would also suggest adding "L" with a little tongue sticking out, and a "J"/"CH"/"SH" teeth clenched shape.

 cheers Tom. political charactures ALWAYS go over well with the audience. my critique goes as follows; everythihng is great. from this point it's all personal intrest. i think the face map is VERY well done for the style of character you were trying to achieve; i especially laughed at his big red nose. you should have a candy cane sticking out of it, whadda you think? i know i would (friggin G.W.B.:shame: ) but that's just my devilish satire showing through. I had a classmate who also held the same sense of humor and aslo was an avid XSI user. you wouldn't happen to know Craig do you?
Jelly, great suggestions for the face shapes; i'm taking notes too.
GREAT WORK AND KEEP IT UP!
Andreasson
08-09-2003, 05:22 PM
Hehe, I think I´m not unorthodox enough to have a candy cane sticking out of his nose!
It's funny but when I looked closely on Bush's nose I made the discovery, -It's slightly pink/purple! I just enhanced it a bit.
No I dont know Craig. Just seen his name on the disc-group.
