been working on this for the past few days...and now its done:)
a while ago i did a character piece called Dark Samurai which i was never happy with, so i thought it was about time to promote him to a Warlord:)
and thats a mask hes wearing..not his face:surprised

Great! I love that stuff, although I kinda not like the mechanical-theme.
Anyways, I want more of that kinda stuff.
07-30-2003, 11:48 PM
theres no machines in that image though:surprised
07-30-2003, 11:48 PM
ouaahhhhh the light is incredible good stuff daniel
07-31-2003, 12:00 AM
i think the flag the warlord is carrying doesnt look like fabric, it needs more dimension, more shadows...
also the lighting, wouldnt the man at the bottom right have more light on his face? i could be wrong about that
its totally killer tho!!!

its really dramatic....... i love it. But as someone posted earlier, add more shadows to the flag. Work it more so it looks like fabric.

Damn, that is really nice! Congrats on finishing it!
What tools did you use?
07-31-2003, 10:11 PM

Absolutely astonishing! The level of detail, composition, fantastic use colouring and lighting. I love the dark atmosphere. I also personally really like the contrast of traditional and new technology. A pleasure to view. I continue to be astounded by the level of painterly work that can be achieved with programs like photoshop. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Another GREAT work Arcipello! Ive been a great admirer of your work for some time, I first saw your stuff on deviantart but i dont have an account so I couldnt post replies. Anyway Keep up the great work man, Im 17 and an aspiring digital artist and Ill let you know your a big inspiration!
PS--> How exactly do you start your work? Do you just sit down w/ your wacom and start sketching and if it looks good, continue it? Or do you scan in a hand drawn sketch 1st, and then color? I like to take the 2nd approach but this prevents me from going above and beyond what I have on the paper. If that makes any sense.... anyway great stuff!

This is freaking great work man! Truely shizting!! I would love to see more like this.

Even though i can see that the only "strong" lightsourch is from behind, it would be cool to have a bit more light in his face, just so we could see the character better. No crits, just a request to see more of your awsome skills=)
But again! Great work! Wish i could do half of that!

I think you may enjoy Goya paintings. Look at these for composition and human subtleties. Goya also has a very good sense of relative scale. Sorry to be critical.
wow this is good, i like the light glaring out from behind! merging with the bluish green in front.. :applause:

it's easy to tell that you're not experienced in drawing horses, the flag looks flat/fake, and the picture overall doesn't really do it for me..kinda boring but other than all that it's a decent picture
08-02-2003, 03:02 PM
I think the style and composition is awesome! Just curious do you use a drawing tablet to do your pieces? Keep up the great work!!

anyway here are couple of detail shots:)

Excellent pic, I really like the color choices you made, especially with the lighting and not giving into the tendency to give unnatural light sources.
I don't think the flag really works. The way it's mounted is dope but it doesn't really feel like it has weight to it and the lettering on it seems much more cg than the rest of the pic which looks so organic. I also think the horse and rider are really stiff. The horse does not have to be attacking obviously but there's no life in it, even the eyes.
The rendering of the clouds in the background though is some of the better stuff I've seen. Good job.
08-03-2003, 04:18 AM
simply amazing----i especially love the mass of people in the background. excellent work all around.
08-03-2003, 06:49 AM
The amount of detail and the attention to the lighting and shading.
A fantastic image. I could only crit the flag, but others have said all I would say anyway.
Malcolmvexxed, maybe it has no life because it's an evil horse?

08-03-2003, 11:27 PM
yay... nice and all..
but why is Shen Ku - Dark Warlord master slayer brute... riding a short little pony into battle?
08-04-2003, 02:04 AM
Very nice indeed, i love the dark colors and the mood of the piece.
08-17-2003, 12:38 PM
Wee bit behind on everything these days, but I'm catching back up :) Aside from what has been mentioned about the flag, you can't deny the lighting and composition, the attention to details is also mind numbing. What I love the most is your blending of cool and warm colors, the Dark Rider just pops off the screen with vengance!, nice work
